Inspired by the love of a father and a son, the HollyRod Foundation was started by actress, author and philanthropist, Holly Robinson Peete and husband, former NFL player, Rodney Peete. The founding principle was advocacy and awareness for families with a loved one impacted by Parkinson's disease in honor of Holly's father Matthew Robinson Jr, who was diagnosed in his mid 40s and the first actor to portray the character of Gordon Robinson on Sesame Street.

A few years later, Holly and Rodney's son RJ, who has a twin sister Ryan, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Holly and Rodney recall the day of receiving the diagnosis as their Never Day. The Dr. told them all the things that RJ would never to able to do or accomplish in his life. Since that time, Holly, Rodney and their entire family have opened their lives to the public and shared their stories, struggles and triumph with the world. They have published books, hosted job fairs, brought the public into their personal lives with their reality shows, For Peete's Sake and Meet the Peetes which ran respectively on OWN and the Hallmark Channel.

The Peete's have used their voices and journey to empower other families. Their most recent effort is the establishment of the RJ's Place Vocational Training and Parkinson's Support Services Center in Los Angeles. To learn more visit
